CoolSculpting Los Angeles

You’re proud of your body, and you deserve it. Following a healthy diet to control your weight and exercising regularly require dedication. Like many fit people, however, you may feel frustrated by those areas of your body that seem to hold onto the fat regardless of how hard you work out.

With CoolSculpting, you can tighten and refine your body shape without anesthesia or pain medication. Our Los Angeles MedSpa patients choose this non-invasive fat-freezing option to permanently trim select areas through a carefully controlled cooling process. As effective as it is for slimming thighs and melting off love handles, CoolSculpting is also an effective way to contour large bulges and perfect the body after liposuction.

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is a non-surgical body contouring technique that works by applying targeted cooling to fat cells, breaking them down, and eliminating stubborn fat just below the skin’s surface.

The beauty of CoolSculpting is that there are no needles or incisions, and no anesthesia is necessary. With CoolSculpting, side effects are minimal, and there is little or no downtime. While it is not for overall weight loss, CoolSculpting can target trouble spots that just won’t respond to diet and exercise.

CoolSculpting was initially designed to reduce belly fat. While the tummy remains one of the most common treatment areas, you can target isolated areas of unwanted fat in a variety of areas of the body:

  • Hips
  • Upper and lower abdomen
  • Inner and outer thighs
  • Flanks/love handles
  • Arms
  • Bra area and back fat
  • Underneath the buttocks/banana roll
  • Underneath the chin

How does CoolSculpting work?

Cold is like kryptonite for fat cells. CoolSculpting takes advantage of that through a process called cryolipolysis, which breaks down the layer of fat just beneath the skin through a technique that targets specific areas of the body with concentrated cold temperatures applied directly to the treatment areas.

Cryolipolysis is another word for fat freezing. It’s derived from three Greek terms: Cryo means cold, lipo means fat, and lysis is the term used to describe the disintegration of a cell by rupture of the cell wall or membrane. Freezing fat cells kick-starts a natural process that starts with crystalizing the membranes and causing them to rupture. When this happens, the cell can no longer do its job of storing fat, and the body breaks them down. Over time, the lymphatic system filters these digested fat cells out of the body as waste.

Treatment details

CoolSculpting is an in-office procedure that begins with identifying and marking the areas of stubborn fat targeted for treatment.

Next, we apply a gel sheet as a barrier so that the cooling plates do not directly contact the skin. We use different applicators and angles to ensure the most effective results based on the treatment area. Once the applicator is in place, we pull the treatment area into the cooling device using suction and gradually cool the fat layer to a target temperature of between 30.2 and 39.2 degrees Fahrenheit. You will feel the cold and a tugging sensation. You may also feel tingling, stinging, aching, and cramping. These sensations will ease as the area becomes numb, and you should not feel any pain. Then you relax and wait while the cold does its work. This part of the treatment process can take anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour, depending on the treatment area.

The treatment area will appear red and feel numb and quite cold to the touch immediately after the applicator is removed. We will either manually massage the area for a few minutes or use a Z wave machine to enhance the effects of CoolSculpting by sending radial pulsed energy into the tissue to help further break down the fat cells. Because fat freezes at a higher temperature than skin tissue, CoolSculpting only targets fat cells and does not harm the skin or other tissue. Fat cells destroyed in this process are gradually absorbed by the body, helping you lose inches.

CoolSculpting Recovery

Following CoolSculpting Los Angeles patients typically require little to no downtime and can resume normal activities immediately. Patients might see minor redness or experience soreness in some cases, but these minor side effects typically subside within a few weeks, if not days.

Who is a good candidate for CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is ideal for those with localized fatty deposits in regions appropriate for body contouring, such as the tummy, flanks, arms, and legs. Patients should be in good overall health and have skin with good elasticity and tone. Because it is not a weight-loss procedure, it is not ideal for those who are morbidly obese or who have skin conditions such as eczema or dermatitis in the treatment area.

CoolSculpting Frequently Asked Questions

CoolSculpting is one of the most effective and popular non-surgical options for fat reduction. The FDA-approved cooling devices are designed with built-in safety measures, including sensors to detect when the skin is getting too cold and shut the system down automatically. Serious side effects are rare, although risks are higher for patients with certain rare conditions.

The expert medical staff at Marina MedSpa will review your medical history and talk with you about these conditions and discuss any concerns about potential adverse reactions.

You’ll probably start noticing improvements around 3 weeks after treatment, and you’ll continue looking increasingly slimmed down and sleek over the next 2 to 4 months. Our Los Angeles CoolSculpting clients usually experience about a 20 to 25% reduction of the treated fat.

CoolSculpting permanently destroys fat cells, and while results can be long-lasting and natural, you can still gain weight after the procedure. Maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle will help ensure the longest-lasting results.

The cost of CoolSculpting ranges between $2,000 and $4,000, depending on the treatment area and size of the treatment site.

It’s possible to see fat reduction in areas like your stomach and hips in as little as one session. Still, at least two sessions are better for longer-lasting results.

Every patient is different, but most patients get the most benefit from two to three CoolSculpting sessions. We recommend that patients wait at least six to eight weeks before treating the same area again.

Freeze the Fat faster: CoolSculpting Elite is an enhanced fat-freezing system that offers even better results and faster treatment. It provides 18% more coverage and dual applicators, allowing us to treat a larger area at one time or tackle more areas in half the time.
